Substation shutdown on La Trobe St route
Work to decommission an electrical substation on La Trobe Street is one of a series of electrical supply projects landing on city streets in the weeks ahead.
 
The La Trobe Street project will divert the westbound bike lane around the work zone as riders approach the long brick wall of the historic Melbourne Royal Mint.
 
CitiPower is removing redundant equipment to decommission a substation, requiring underground trenching along La Trobe Street to remove 
underground cables, as well as work at the substation site itself.
 
Underground works will take place on selected weekdays during the hours of 9am and 3pm from Thursday 11 to Monday 22 September.

Queen Street

CitiPower will be installing underground cables along Queen Street as part of an upgrade to a substation.
 
The works, which will be carried out in stages, will require a partial closure of Queen Street – the road and footpath.
 
Traffic control will be in place to safely guide vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians around the work area.
 
Queen Street southbound, 7am to 5pm Tuesday 2 to Tuesday 9 September. Work will be underway in the pavement and inside lane on the Queen Street corner of Collins Street southbound – a pavement and lane closure only.
 
Queen Street northbound, 7am to 5pm Wednesday 10 to Thursday 18 September. CitiPower will be working on the pavement and inside lane on the Queen Street corner of Collins Street northbound – pavement and lane closure only.
 
Queen Street both north corners, 9.30am to 4pm Wednesday 19 to Wednesday 24 September. Works will be on the inside lane on the Queen Street corners north of Collins Street – the pavement will remain open.
 
Queen Street both north corners, 9. 30am to 4pm Wednesday 15 to Thursday 16 October. Work will be underway on the inside lane on the Queen Street corners north of Collins Street – the pavement will remain open.

 


Little Collins Street and Little Queen Street

Starting next week CitiPower will be installing underground cables in Little Collins Street immediately west of Queen Street, requiring the closure of Little Collins Street.
 
Traffic control will be in place to safely guide vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians around the work area.
 
As part of works to upgrade Little Queen Street Zone Substation, there is also a closure of Little Queen Street.
 
Works are underway from 9.30am to 4pm Tuesday 30 September to Thursday 7 October, and then on Friday 17 to Monday 20 October.
