The Weekender

Routes and Prices

The route

The Weekender offers two individual routes across Saturday and Sunday, both rolling out from Leongatha at 8.30am. Choose to ride both or just one.

Day 1 | Saturday 22 April 2023

The Weekender - Day 1
Distance: 115km | Elevation: 1203m

Day one provides the trifecta of countryside views, coastal breezes and lush mountain ranges as you ride along quiet country roads with a few testing climbs.

Starting in Leongatha, enjoy sweeping paddock vistas as you travel towards the coastal town of Inverloch. Make the most of the coastal views as the scenery changes to surf and sand as you make your way to Wonthaggi, with a rest stop that pays respect to past service personnel.

From here the route weaves back through paddocks with elevated views over the surrounding area as you pass through Korumburra before you start climbing the Strzelecki Ranges.

Gravel Sector

A road bike is perfect for this ride however prepare yourself for a short, roadie friendly 3.2km hard-compact gravel sector as you pass Lancy’s Lookout. If you’re not confident on gravel don’t worry, our bike mechanics will be close by to give a helping hand if needed before you start descending back to town with sweeping Gippsland Valley views as your reward.

Day one will have you ready for a well-earned drink and an early dinner back at the campground to celebrate your achievement with old and new found friends.

Day 2 | Sunday 23 April 2023

The Weekender - Day 2
Distance: 70km | Elevation: 1229m

Get ready for breathtaking Gippsland Valley views and country hospitality as a reward for a few challenging climbs on day two.

The route starts passing some of the local dairy farms before ascending into the hills and the famous Grand Ridge Road – don’t worry, this section is sealed unlike other areas.

While the legs may be hurting as you tackle the second major climb for the day, you’ll be distracted by the lush tree canopy and views across the Gippsland Valley, as you cycle towards Mirboo North, 33km into the ride for your second rest stop.

Perched on the top of the rolling hills of the Strzelecki Ranges, enjoy country hospitality as you refuel for the next 20km.

Stop for a photo opportunity with your mates shortly after you pass Nicholls Road roughly halfway to your final rest stop in Dumbalk, a small farming community known for it’s rolling green hills of South Gippsland
