Riders get shuttle bus for Wallan works

Construction of new freeway ramps on both sides of the Hume Freeway at Wallan will cause significant disruption to active transport during the project.

Access across the Watson Street Bridge over the Hume Freeway, which links the two sides of the town and provides access to the railway station, will be restricted for bikes and pedestrians from mid-February due to the closure of the off-road path.

To provide access to the station for active transport users, a free community shuttle bus has been provided between Wallan train station, Wallara Waters and Wallan town centre, running seven days a week.

A timetable will be published soon. There will be bike parking available for shuttle users. Watson Street will be accessible for bikes.

There will be a separate school shuttle each school morning and afternoon, so students who would usually walk to and from school can safely get to Wallan Primary, Wallan Secondary, and Our Lady of the Way.

Road users will encounter various lane closures at night as the project work site is established in the coming months

Traffic controllers, temporary traffic lights and on road signage will be in place to guide vehicles through the area.
