From the night of Friday 18 February bike riders will again be able to cross the railway line at Hoppers Crossing Station.
Riders will use the new station overpass rather than the road or pedestrian crossings at ground level that once existed but are now gone due to the level crossing removal at Old Geelong Road.
There will be no ramps to ride up and down however: the overpass has oversized lifts designed to accommodate riders and pedestrians to cross over the rail line between Princes Highway and Old Geelong Road.
There are two of the oversized lifts at each side, with back-up power, so riders expect rapid and reliable access to both sides the tracks.
As road works are continuing in the area, riders will need to take care around the precinct, including the Federation Trail, and follow detour signage and instructions from traffic management.
Detours for pedestrians and bike riders are in place at Old Geelong Road and Princes Highway intersection until April, Hoppers Junction car park and surrounding area until Monday 7 March, and Morris Road and Heaths Road intersection until Monday 28 February.
Lane closures and reduced speeds will be in place at times on Old Geelong Road, Morris Road, Heaths Road, Princes Highway, Princes Freeway and Hoppers Lane throughout February.
