Recall: Cervélo loosens up

Cervélo has recalled two of its bike lines because of a faulty face plate.

The handlebars on Cervelo R5 Bicycles and Cervelo Caledonia 5 Bicycles can become loose even though the head stem face plate is correctly torqued.

The company says if the handlebar comes loose while riding, the rider may lose control of the bicycle which may result in an accident causing serious injury.

Affected models include:

  1. Cervélo Caledonia 5 - models sold on or after 1 May 2021
  2. Cervélo R5 – models sold on or after 28 September 2021

If you have a Cervélo R5 or Caledonia-5 bicycle or a frameset purchased after the dates listed, with a stem whose faceplate matches the faceplate shown in the illustration in red (the actual stems are black) or a ST31 LT replacement stem, please stop using it immediately.

Contact your authorized Cervélo dealer to arrange for a free repair to replace the faceplate with the design shown  in green.

The product was sold through various stores nationally and internationally between 1 May 2021 - 16 Sep 2022
