Davey Street bike block finished
There’s a new separated bike lane on Davey Street between Sandy Bay Road and Linden Avenue thanks to RoadsTas.
The lane was installed as part of the Macquarie-Davey Bus Lane Project and while Bicycle Network urged a longer, more connected stretch of lane it does form a building block for future upgrades.
The project has also added two bicycle storage boxes and a hook-turn box at Byron Street for people heading down Molle Street to the Rivulet Path or Collins Street.

Intercity Cycleway section closed for one day
The City of Hobart plans to close the Intercity Cycleway on Tuesday 20 August between Bromby Street and Bay Road, weather permitting, to fix the lumpy surface.
The quietest detour is via the New Town Rivulet and back streets but involves two crossings of busy roads. For signalised crossings and sealed paths the whole way, New Town Road is the best detour.
We’ll update the closure on our Facebook page @BicycleNetworkTasmania if weather forces a re-schedule.

Southern Outlet works shouldn’t affect riders
Work has started on building a new lane on the Southern Outlet, with some disruption at night, but it should not affect most bike riders.
The work will take place for the next eight months on the right of Macquarie Street coming into the city between 7am and 5pm on weekdays and at night between 6.30pm Sunday to 6.30am Friday.
There will be some disruption during night-time works but day-time work shouldn’t affect traffic lanes.
