Melton Station plans finalised

Works to build a new Melton Station and remove four level crossings along the line will deliver vital bike connections to the district.

The final designs for the station and other structures have been released and show prominently placed bike routes, which will attract more riders to the rapidly growing city.

New rail bridges will take trains over Coburns and Exford roads, and road bridges will be built over Ferris Road in Melton and Hopkins Road in Truganina, making Melton level crossing free in 2026.

The new Melton Station will be built with four platforms, paving the way for future improvements and increased capacity on the line.

Community consultation during the design phase revealed that the community was keen for better connections and improved access for pedestrians and people using bikes to around the area.

Both road bridges at Ferris and Hopkins roads will have dedicated shared-use paths.

The new station will be accessible from both sides of the rail line. There will be an expansive pedestrian walkway, pick-up and drop-off zones and each platform will be accessible via two lifts and stairs.

The station will also include an air-conditioned waiting room and staffed ticket office, along with lighting and security cameras.

Contracts for the works were recently awarded and site establishment works are set to kick off in the coming weeks. Construction is scheduled to begin in coming weeks.
