UPDATE:There will be intermittent full, or overnight, closures of the Footscray Road bike route during January.
To enable cladding installation works on the elevated road over Footscray Road, the Footscray Road walking and cycling path between Pearl River Road and Shepherd Bridge will be closed overnight between 8pm and 5am from Monday 20 January to Friday 24 January.
Trail users will be detoured via the usual route of Dynon Road and the Moonee Ponds Creek trail, taking care to cross the Moonee Ponds Creek trail at Waterfront Way under the green bridge.
Work continues on the construction of the Veloway, with the link from Shepherd Bridge progressing rapidly.
Note that there will also be significant traffic impacts resulting from closures to motor traffic on Footscray Road during this period.
The spillover of this traffic to Dynon Road may impact riders who are also taking this route as well as access roads on Footscray and in the west of the CBD.
The project is running full tilt with utility, drainage and resurfacing works through December and into 2025.
Full road and lane closures of Footscray Road, the service road on Footscray Road and Dock Link Road will be required.
From Monday 2 December to Thursday 19 December, the Footscray Road westbound carriageway between Appleton Dock Road and Shepherd Bridge will be closed overnight from 8pm to 5am to enable cladding works.
From 8pm Friday 6 December to 5am Monday 9 December, there will be a full closure in both directions of Footscray Road between Maribyrnong Street and Appleton Dock Road to enable road resurfacing works.
There will be ongoing single lane closures until 20 December on Footscray Road, westbound between Waterfront Way and CityLink, and eastbound between CityLink and Pearl River Road.
The left turn from the service road on Footscray Road into Dock Link Road and through access to the service road will be closed to enable utility and median island works overnight until 5am Thursday 19 December.
