Waranga Rail Trail complete
Riders can rejoice at the news that a 19km section of the Waranga Rail Trail has been completed between the Victorian towns of Murchison and Rushworth, after years of planning and construction.

The updated section, featuring both asphalt and gravel additions, runs from Murchison township to the rail bridge at Channel Inlet Road before continuing on to Rushworth.

The trail crosses six bridges, including the recently refurbished, historically significant bridge over the Stuart Murray Canal, and borders the unique ecosystem of Doctors Swamp Wildlife Reserve.
Both Murchison and Rushworth townships boast outstanding bakeries, shops, picnic areas and other amenities.

The trail is open for users now, but an official opening will take place on Saturday 17 May 2025 at 10am, coinciding with the community market.

Waranga Rail Trail signage, developed collaboratively by Campaspe Council, Greater Shepparton City Council and key Rushworth stakeholder groups, will be installed in the coming months.
