To mark Ride2Work Day this year we are asking Tasmanian businesses to sign on to a Ride2Work Day pledge and we need you to amplify our call.
The pledge acknowledges the importance of safe cycling infrastructure to encourage people to ride to work and the benefits to businesses of more employees riding.
We will be writing to some of the bigger Tasmanian employers with headquarters in urban centres and a workforce suited to riding.
However, a request coming from within will always be powerful. Please share the pledge with your manager/CEO and encourage them to sign on before Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 15 October.
The pledge is published on our website and we’re aiming to include the names/logos of supporting organisations and businesses.
If your boss is happy to sign, then ask them to send their agreement to the pledge to tasoffice@bicyclenetwork.com.au
Ride2Work Day pledge
Our business supports the provision of safe cycling infrastructure in Tasmania to help our employees and customers make the choice to ride, walk or scoot.
We support delivery of local and state government active transport plans to achieve this aim.
More people using active transport is good for:
Our business – healthy workers are more punctual, take fewer sick days and are happier
Health – helping people get the daily exercise they need to stay healthy saves money and boosts productivity.
The environment – choosing low-carbon transport options reduces our climate change emissions
Government budgets – people walking and riding cause less wear and tear on infrastructure
Traffic congestion – people walking and riding take up less space than people in private cars.
