Preliminary works will soon be underway on the construction of the major new intersection on Ballan Road in Wyndham Vale.
Transport Victoria is upgrading the intersections of Ballan, McGrath and Greens roads, currently a major congestion point for motor traffic and a risky junction for bike riders and pedestrians.
New bike and walking paths will be fitted into the new signalised intersection that is replacing the notorious roundabout, linking to the surrounding shared path network.
There will also be a new bus priority lane on Ballan Road to improve public transport reliability, as well as additional traffic lanes.
Major construction will be underway early in 2026.
Current early works will build a project site office and compound in the grassy reserve area off Greens Road service road between McGrath Road south and Wembley Street, installing temporary safety barriers and relocating underground services.
From Thursday 6 November through to early December 2025, activity will be mostly during the day, from 7am to 6pm, with intermittent lane closures.
There will be night works between 8pm and 5am on Thursday 6 November at the intersection of McGrath, Greens and Ballan roads, with a road closure in place.
The existing pedestrian crossing on Ballan Road that leads to the Greens Road service road will be closed for the duration of the project.
Information regarding detours during major works will be provided closer to the time next year.
