Bli Bli bridge plan released
The Queensland Government has published the proposed planning layout featuring active transport improvements for the David Low Bridge, known locally as Bli Bli bridge.

The upgraded bridge will include a wider bridge deck with two lanes of traffic, road shoulders and – most excitingly – a wider path for riders, pedestrians and mobility device users on the southern side, and active transport paths connecting to Bli Bli village and Muller Park.

These active transport improvements will upgrade the existing shared user path along the bridge, which is popular with local riders fond of the sweeping view over the Maroochy River.

The design layout includes provision to convert the bridge to four lanes in future if traffic demands increase.

The existing bridge will remain in use for the foreseeable future, with timeframes and funding for the further planning, design and construction of the bridge as yet unclear.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is currently seeking community feedback on the proposed design to inform the next planning stages.
