Weekend of Coastal Pathway rides

The social rides have been gradually cranking up again over January and in the coming fortnight there are three rides being offered on the Coastal Pathway and Wild Mersey trails over the Hobart Regatta Day long weekend.

And this year, why not use your rides to improve conditions for bike riders? Saving your RidewithGPS rides to Strava will contribute to heat maps that are sometimes used by governments to make decisions about cycling infrastructure. Check out the cheat sheet on how to do it.

E-bike coffee cruise: Mini Sandy Bay Circuit – Friday 6 February

The Mini Sandy Bay Circuit ride on Friday 6 February provides an introduction to quieter streets and paths to get you around.

Meet ride leader Di at 9.45 am at the front of Brooke Street Pier for the short 7 km loop through Battery Point and Sandy Bay, finishing on Collins Street for coffee.

Please RSVP in case of cancellation via https://ridewithgps.com/events/438280-e-bike-coffee-cruise-mini-sandy-bay-circ

Regatta weekend Coastal Pathway rides

Join ride leader Brian for three rides along the north-west’s Coastal Pathway between Saturday 7 February and Monday 9 February.

You can do all three rides or just join one or two – it’s the Hobart Regatta long weekend for people in the south.

On Saturday it will be the Latrobe to Ulverstone return (73 km), Sunday the Penguin to Wynyard return (80 km) and Monday Latrobe to Railton return via the Wild Mersey mountain bike trails (32.5).

Waterworks Workout from Cenotaph –  Sunday 15 February

The Waterworks Workout from the Cenotaph is a short, steep 21 km ride to get your legs pumping.

Join ride leader David at 9.45 am at the Cenotaph car park off McVilly Drive to head through the city to the Rivulet Path and Strickland Avenue, a short ride along Huon Road to the Pipeline track for a descent into Waterworks Reserve and back to town for coffee.

The narrow, gravel Pipeline track means bikes should have wide tyres and good brakes. Please RSVP in case of cancellation via https://ridewithgps.com/events/437895-waterworks-workout-from-cenotaph

Become a social ride leader

If you would like to be one of our social ride leaders, please email our Rides Coordinator with your contact details and what sort of riding you are interested in and we'll let you know when the next Ride Leader Skills Development Workshop is scheduled.

You don't have to be super fit or into competitive riding, our rides are a mixed bag depending on the interests of our ride leaders. They offer everything from short 1–2 hour rides, with stops along the way, to day-long excursions.

Our ambassador routes have been developed by our social rides coordinator Di with help from other riders. It's another way of helping more people to ride if you don't have the time to run regular social rides.
