A new sewer under construction in Docklands will impact riders along Spencer Street and Siddeley Street in Docklands during the course of this year and next.
Greater Western Water is doubling the sewer capacity through the area. Utility relocation is underway with the main construction of the project starting in April 2026 and finishing in May 2027.
Two lanes of Spencer Street will be closed during the first stage until April.
There will be temporary traffic management for both traffic and pedestrians during the construction period.
The project involves the installation of a new, larger sewer pipeline using tunnelling between large shafts that require piling and excavation.
Construction will be staged to minimise disruption, with restoration at each stage upon completion.
Site compounds and traffic management will be set up permanently during the works, but most construction activities will occur between 7am and 10pm, Monday to Saturday. Some works will occur outside of these times.
Some night works are required to minimise disruption to local businesses and traffic.
