Brimbank seeks input on transport strategy
The City of Brimbank in Melbourne’s north west has embarked on its first integrated transport strategy and is seeking feedback from riders.

Bike infrastructure has been sparse through the region, but the development is Sunshine as a CBD for the west has given added impetus to consideration of active transport.

The municipality hosts a considerable part of the route of Airport Rail to Tullamarine and will be able to leverage off new bike infrastructure being delivered as part of that project.

Brimbank says the strategy provides a long-term plan to improve how people, goods and services move across the municipality, with a focus on accessibility and connectivity.

Built around the pillars of connectivity, liveability and equity, the strategy sets a vision for 2050 and responds to key challenges including population growth, car reliance, safety and emissions.

It also recognises opportunities linked to improved public transport and the role of Sunshine as a central transport hub.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Virginia Tachos said: “We know how people move around Brimbank has a big impact on daily life. We need community input to understand local transport needs and priorities.

“This strategy is about improving connections while making our streets safer, more inclusive and more enjoyable for everyone.”

Community members can view the draft Integrated Transport Strategy online and submit feedback via the Your Say website or chat with planners at one of the pop-up sessions available across the municipality.

The draft strategy is open for feedback until 31 May 2026.
