Brisbane: Final plans for Toowong’s missing link

Sylvan Road is synonymous with white knuckle cycling, the notorious link between Brisbane’s Bicentennial Bikeway and the western suburbs has been one of river city’s missing links for decades.

That may finally change with the Brisbane City Council releasing two concept designs for a separated bikeway along the busy Toowong thoroughfare.

The Council is seeking public feedback on both options, a continuous bi-directional lane or a part uni-directional/part bi-directional bikeway along Sylvan Road.

Two pop-up sessions are scheduled, the first on Wednesday May 27 and another on Sunday May 31, for anyone wanting to ask questions in person.

The BCC have confirmed they are not considering alternatives beyond the two engineered designs.

Both designs include changes to side street intersections feeding onto Sylvan Road — including left-turn-only arrangements — along with shared traffic modifications at the Milton Road, Croydon Street and Morley Street intersection.

Full details on both concept designs, the pop-up sessions and how to have your say are available at the Council’s project page.
