The Pascoe Vale Road sewer relining project gets underway soon and may have some impact on riders in the Pascoe Vale and Strathmore areas from early next year.
The sewer was built in the 1950s and requires relining along with manhole rehabilitation.
Melbourne Water and its contractor start work this month on the 6-month duration project.
There is expected to be minor impacts to riders on Pascoe Vale Road, but also along the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail nearby.
There will be changes to traffic conditions including lane closures, speed limit reductions and, where necessary, full road closures.
Minor detours may be in place for pedestrians and cyclists. Be careful around work areas and observe new signs.
On completion of these works the shared pathways and road will be reinstated.
There will be bypass pumping required for the northern section of the alignment from cnr of Pascoe Vale Road and Main Street, and along Moone Ponds Creek to Bass Street Reserve.
All stages of the project will take place as night works, Sunday to Thursday, 9pm to 7am.
Key dates:
- December 2018 - January 2019. Start manhole rehabilitation in the southern section
- January 2019 - Bypass pumping set up in the northern section from Cnr Pascoe Vale Road and Main Street and Moonee Ponds Creek to Bass Street
- January 2019 - Start relining works in the northern section
- Mid 2019 - End sewer relining work
