What happened to Gitta Scheenhouwer on Chapel Street in South Yarra was an awful tragedy.
We can’t imagine the pain the young woman’s friends and family have had to go through.
We think it’s appropriate for the bike riding community to unite to pay our respects.
On Tuesday 28 August at 7.00am, let’s gather together in South Yarra and take a moment to remember a life that should never have been lost.
Riders can meet at 7:00am by the Main Yarra Trail on Alexandra Avenue opposite the Melbourne High School oval.

After speeches from Bicycle Network, Australian Cycle Alliance and the Mayor of Stonnington people will depart to ride up Chapel Street to Grosvenor Street.
We’ve lost far too many members of the bike riding community this year. It’s time we came together to show that enough is enough.
