Seniors Week on a roll in Hobart & Ulverstone

Our favourite Seniors Week rides are back this October, celebrating the power of electric bikes to keep people riding for longer and the motivation of riding somewhere for a delicious pay-off.

Wednesday 16 October is the day for our Hobart and Ulverstone rides:

  • E-bike Coffee Club goes to MONA
  • Ulverstone - Berry Patch Ride and Feast
E-bikes open up possibilities

We know that too many older people can stop being active when they get an injury or condition that makes physical effort difficult. E-bikes are a great way to get people exercising again and enjoying the independence of being able to jump on a bike to get around.

The 27km return ride to MONA will be at a relaxed pace that will take a mix of off-road bike paths and quiet suburban streets. We are meeting at 10.50 am at the Hobart Cenotaph car park, ready to ride at 11 am.

On the way to MONA we’ll take quiet streets through Lutana, Goodwood and through Montrose to see GASP.

You can chat to e-bike owners to help you better understand the range of bikes available and how they can help you ride more often. If you don’t have an e-bike but are interested, why not hire one from Hobart Bike Hire or Roll Rentals (used to be Cranke)  and see if you like it?

At MONA we’ll stop for lunch (what you eat and drink is at your own cost) to celebrate the birthday of one of our ride leaders, Jack, before heading back to Hobart along the Intercity Cycleway, arriving at about 2.30 pm.

This is “fair weather ride” so please RSVP so we can let you know if it needs to be cancelled.

Ulverstone to Berry Patch

This will be an easy, friendly group ride from Ulverstone to the Berry Patch in Turners Beach, for lunch and then return to Ulverstone.

We’ll take the off-road Coastal Pathway and then the quiet Beach Road.

If you haven’t been to the Berry Patch before you are in for a treat – berry compote, jams, and ice-cream, as well as tasty savoury dishes, are all on the lunch menu and you can pick up some fresh berries to take home with you.

Meet at 11 am at Otto’s Grove in Bicentennial Park, where we’ll return at about 2.30 pm. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect and can contact you in case of cancellation.

These rides are being offered as part of Bicycle Network Tasmania’s social rides program. Social rides are free and organised by volunteers to help other people meet new people, learn new skills and gain confidence on their bikes.
