There will be brief delays for riders on the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail close to Docklands from Wednesday 15 January.
Works for a new bridge over the Creek between Dynon and Footscray Roads is starting, requiring vehicle access across the trail.
Riders will have noticed the installation of boom gates and the construction of a works compound.
The boomgates will be lowered several times a day for a few minutes to allow vehicles to safely cross the path.
The West Gate Tunnel Project says it will attempt to minimise closures during the peak bike commuter periods and traffic controllers will ensure priority is always given to riders and pedestrians on the trail.
Initial works involve drainage relocation and piling.
