Recall: Surly racks off

Front racks sold by Surly, and marketed as convenient for schlepping packs of beer, have been recalled as they can come loose and contact the front wheel, spilling both the rider and the beer.

The Surly 8 Pack and 24 Pack bicycle racks were available for sale, and were pre-installed on Surly Pack Rat complete bicycles.

If the rack is not tightened correctly, it could become loose and fall off.

If the rack falls into the path of the bicycle or contacts the front wheel while the bicycle is being ridden, it may result in the rider losing control and pose an increased accident or injury risk.

Consumers should immediately cease using the rack by removing it from their bicycle or returning the bicycle to the place of purchase for assistance in removing the rack.

The store will repair the rack by installing a Security Hardware Kit, free of charge.

The products were sold nationally by authorised Surly dealers between 1 May 2016 and 30 September 2019.
