Trail at Albion remains open

The trail along the rail corridor from Sunshine to Albion remains open although the station carpark closure at the station has been extended.

Riders can travel along the trail from West Footscray to Albion and beyond while construction work continues on new power substations as part of the Sunbury rail line upgrades.

To support construction of the new Albion substation Rail Projects Victoria will be installing new underground electrical equipment, upgrading sewerage pipes and starting landscaping activities around the substation site.

Excavation works are required in the Albion station car park to facilitate upgrades to underground power cabling and install new electrical supply equipment

Underground boring works will take place between Albion station car park and the new substation on Talmage Street.

Although the carpark has been closed, the trail will remain open through the carpark.

Closer to Footscray at Tottenham Station work on another new substation for the Sunbury line continues.

As part of those works the carpark in Rupert Street, adjacent to the trail, will be extended during January and February.

There may be traffic management at trail crossings during those works.

Tottenham Station has been on the Bicycle Network priority list of stations for bike parking upgrades for a prolonged period, but no news yet on the timing of those activities.
