Bike riders wanted for Monash Uni study

Monash University are conducting a study to understand where and when people ride bikes, and they need your help.

The aim of the study is to enhance rider safety and build safe and connected bike facilities in a more strategic manner.

Monash University are hoping to understand the routes that people choose when riding, and how this differs across different areas of Melbourne and different population groups (e.g. women and men).

Overall, the project will enable the research team to model the number of riders on each road in a city.

By participating in this study, you will be making Melbourne a better place for bike riders.

Monash University are specifically looking for participants who:

  • live in Greater Melbourne, and
  • ride a bike at least once a week.
  • Participating in this study involves downloading and using a smartphone application to collect GPS data and fitting a Bluetooth ‘beacon’ to your bicycle. People can take part at any time before August 2022.
