Riders may be impacted by a partial closure of Howard Street in North Melbourne during August.
The northbound bike lane on Howard Street between Victoria and Queensberry streets will close for a water main renewal project by Greater Western Water.
The lane will be shut during the hours of 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday, but will re-open on weeknights and weekends.
Detours will be via Chetwynd Street and Capel Street.
Riders who use Howard Street southbound would be alert to changes in the way drivers will use car parking in the centre of the street.
The works are the preliminary stage of the Victoria Street water main renewal project.
The project will renew a 3.5 km water main network along Howard Street, Victoria Street, and Rathdowne Street from August 2022 until mid-2023.
Construction on the next stage of the water main renewal project on Victoria Street is scheduled to start in September 2022.
The current water main is ageing and in need of replacement.
This upgrade will create more capacity in the system to ensure reliable water supply now and into the future, as well as increased protection against water loss and leaks.
Riders will be advised of any further detours as construction moves progressively through the area.
