Footscray Road closed but open for bikes

Footscray Road will be periodically closed for traffic next week, but the bike trail will remain open.

The West Gate Tunnel Project is set to deliver a set of massive steel beams that will span across Footscray Road to carry sections of the elevated road and the bike veloway now under construction.

To deliver these beams on oversized vehicles and install them, a combination of eastbound and full road closures are required.

There will be overnight eastbound closures of Footscray Road between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road from 8pm to 5am from Monday 5 September to Friday 9 September.

There will be a full weekend closure of Footscray Road in both directions between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road from 5am Saturday 10 September to 5pm Sunday 11 September.

While riders on Footscray Road will have full access, riders on the detour routes such as Hopkins-Barkly Street Footscray may have to contend with the overspill of traffic.
