The Parkiteer Network is still growing

The Parkiteer network continues to grow. Many stations across Victoria have seen the introduction of Parkiteer secure bike parking facilities, thanks to station upgrade works, council requests and government funding for expanded bike parking.

Here is a summary of our work in 2022.

Bonbeach, Chelsea and Edithvale – The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) brought an upgrade to all 3 stations. Edithvale and Bonbeach stations now host two brand new Parkiteers, with the previous cage at Chelsea rebuilt into the new station. All 3 Parkiteer facilities are along the newly constructed Shared User Path (SUP), which will be connected all the way to Frankston.

Melton – A second Parkiteer has been built further west of the existing facility to accommodate the growing demand for secure bike parking facilities at Melton station.

Hallam – After receiving a fresh coat of paint and a relocation closer to the to the station, the Hallam Parkiteer has been reopened. It is now near the citybound entrance of the station along Hallam S Road.

Lilydale - With the relocation of Lilydale station and bus interchange closer to the town centre, a new Parkiteer has been constructed. The Lilydale Parkiteer is now integrated with the new station delivering safer and brighter surroundings.

Mooroolbark - As part of the LXRP, Mooroolbark station now has a Parkiteer at the station entrance. This will improve connectivity between the station, town centre and the Red Earth Community Park.

Jordanville – A new Parkiteer is built on the new SUP on Hillview Avenue Reserve, right at the station entrance.

North Williamstown – The new Parkiteer is part of the North Williamstown station upgrade, which includes new garden spaces, accessibility features and local art reflecting the village feel. The new architecturally designed facility provides parking for 40 bicycles and is just 50m from the station entrance.

Merinda Park – The Cranbourne Railway Line upgrade saw a station upgrade at Merinda Park. The redesigned station accommodates the duplicated track, as well as a new Parkiteer facility.

Gowrie – The Parkiteer previously located at Greensborough station (removed due to upgrade works) has been relocated to Gowrie Station. This relocation was made possible with the assistance of Moreland City Council.

Aircraft – The Aviation Road LXRP saw the station undergo a package of works which included a brand-new Parkiteer.

Hoppers Crossing - A new overpass Hoppers Crossing station has opened, which includes a brand-new Parkiteer. With a Parkiteer now on each side of the upgraded station, members have the option of using the facility that is most accessible for them.

Waurn Ponds – A second Parkiteer has been built at Waurn Ponds station as part of station upgrades. The station now includes additional CCTV, lighting, Myki machines and passenger information displays.

More Parkiteers to come

There are several Parkiteer facilities in the pipeline for the remainder of 2022. Stations that will see new facilities include Yarraman, Upper Ferntree Gully, Preston and Merlynston. Keep an eye out for them, and email parkiteer@bicyclenetwork.com.au for more information.
