Upgrades brighten Moonee Ponds Trail

Riders along the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail in Moonee Ponds will soon have a brighter and safer path as the City Of Money Valley starts work on new lighting and fencing.

In several sections the trail crosses under the under wide freeway overhead, resulting in a dark and dingy environment.

Lighting is being installed at four underpasses along the creek trail under CityLink Freeway near Ormond Park improving visibility and reducing the risk of conflict between shared path users.

The Trail will remain open during this project.

The council will also be installing barrier safety fencing between the shared path and the creek embankment at a number of locations where there are substantial drop-offs at the edge of the path.

During this stage of the works the path will be closed due to safety requirements.

A signed detour will be provided and the council says it will endeavour to complete the works as quickly as possible as well as Traffic Controllers on site to assist during construction.

Traffic controllers will be operational to safely navigate shared path users around the worksites along with traffic management Signage.

The works are anticipated to start from 30/11/22 and be completed by 30/12/22, weather dependant.
