Trek recalls disc brake models

Trek has recalled multiple bike models fitted with Promax hydraulic disc brakes due to a fault that could cause serious injury to riders.

The company says hoses on affected brakes may eject or pull out from the brake lever, causing loss of brake function and control while riding.

Consumers should check to see whether their bicycle is affected by visiting the serial number look-up tool or contacting Trek Australia, 02 6173 2400. A full list is available here.

The bike serial number is located on the underside of the bicycle frame, near the bottom bracket.

Riders are advised to immediately stop using affected bikes and take them to a Trek retailer for inspection. Affected brakes will be fitted with replacement parts.

The following models from 2021, 2022 and 2023 are subject to the recall:

  • FX 2, Verve 3, Verve + 3 (2021)
  • FX 2, FX3, Verve 3, Verve + 3, FX Sport 4, FX Sport 5, FX Sport 6, Dual Sport 2 and Dual Sport 3 (2022)
  • 2023. FX 2, FX 3, FX Sport 4, FX Sport 5, FX Sport 6, Dual Sport + 2 and FX + 2 (2023)
