Run Melbourne to disrupt city bike routes

Around 18,000 people are expected to descend on the CBD and surrounding areas on Sunday 16 July for Run Melbourne, which will cause significant traffic changes across the area.

The start and finish line will be Grand Slam Oval at Melbourne Park.

The first race begins at 6:45am but many closures will commence at 4am, affecting bike routes in the city, Docklands, Southbank, South Melbourne and South Yarra.

The last participant is expected across the finish line at 11:30am. The road closure is scheduled to end at midday.

Noteworthy disruptions include:

  • Batman Avenue: Closed between Swan Street and Flinders Street from 4am until 11:30am.
  • Flinders Street: Closed westbound between Batman Avenue and Swanston street from 4am until 11:30am, and between Swanston Street and King Street from 4am until 8:30am.
  • Park Street, South Yarra: Closed for those heading southbound between 4am and 11:30am. Partk Street northbound will be accessible for local traffic.
  • Toorak Road, South Yarra: Closed at the intersection with Park Street in both directions between 7:15am and 10:30am.
