Main Yarra Trail extension on track

A further stage of the extension of the main Yarra Trail through Warrandyte is complete.

Stage one of the project—from Beasley’s Nursery to Alexander Road—is now virtually wrapped up and native shrubs, trees, and grasses are being planted.

Safety fencing outside Beasleys Nursery has been added.

The stage between Alexander Road and Pound Road was finished in 2020.

Two additional stages of the extension, from Pound Road to Taroona Avenue and on Taroona Avenue will eventually connect riders to the shopping precinct in Yarra Street.

The Main Yarra Trail previously ended at its connection to the Mullum Mullum Trail.

The project, by the City of Manningham, is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The city is working with the Wurundjeri community to complete a cultural heritage investigation for section four, Taroona Avenue.
