Police hunt hit-run driver

Police are seeking witnesses after a car struck a bike rider in Cheltenham and failed to stop.

The rider, a 53-year-old Dingley man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police believe the rider was travelling west on Centre Dandenong Road at about 5:50am when he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Brownfield Street.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render assistance.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a Nissan Navara utility and may have damage to its left-front light from the crash with the bike rider.

They have released the above image of a similar vehicle in efforts to gain information from witnesses.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, has CCTV/dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
