Parkiteer: your feedback in action

Parkiteer members are being asked to offer feedback on their experiences using Public Transport Victoria's network of 145 secure bike parking facilities.

The Parkiteer program aims to connect commuters to the Victorian public transport network by bike, and the survey is part of a commitment to creating a more active and sustainable transport future.

The survey also aims to highlight areas for improvement, following recent key changes to the system and facilities.

What's new

Cardless entry: We’ve rolled out a mobile app for greater ease of access. With a smartphone, you can now access your Parkiteer facility by downloading an app and inserting a credential code unique to your profile. Physical card access is still available for those who prefer it.

Priority parking: priority parking stickers have been installed at busier facilities to ensure that the ground rails are available to those who need them. We hope users who are able to lift their bikes onto the hanging rails do so, to make space on the ground rails for those who need it.

Lighting: A 24/7 lighting protocol has been implemented in facilities that are connected to the mains power supply of the station. All new and upcoming facilities connected to mains power will also have 24/7 lighting as part of the stations’ lighting design.

What's improved

CCTV: We are ensuring that the facilities in new and upgraded stations are monitored well through adequate CCTV coverage. These new facilities will have at least one CCTV camera pointing at the Parkiteer facility door, with further coverage around the facility by other cameras as part of the stations’ monitoring network.

Security: We have also been working closely with the Victoria Police on joint operations and community events. These operations serve to educate the public on bike safety and security, as well as fostering closer working relationships with the police.

From our ongoing discussions with VicPol, we have arranged for the installation of more internal CCTV cameras on a few select facilities. We will continue to monitor the rollout of new internal CCTV cameras and will explore installing additional CCTV cameras in facilities that are deemed necessary by VicPol.

Your positive experience

In our last survey, we were heartened to know that most of our users had positive experiences using the Parkiteer facilities. More than 85% of respondents either agreed or strongly agreed to feeling safe when parking their bikes in our facilities, while over 80% of respondents were very satisfied or satisfied with the key Parkiteer features, namely their proximity, cleanliness, and security.

Your survey responses are important

We are committed to growing and improving the Parkiteer program. We invite all Parkiteer users to participate in our 2024 survey to provide insights and feedback on your Parkiteer experience.

By completing this survey, you will stand a chance to win a $500 Coles/Myer gift card, or 1 of 13 bike riding accessories (only applicable to current Parkiteer members).

The 2024 Annual Parkiteer Survey will remain open until 11.59pm on Sunday 9 June.
