The Thule RideAlong child bike seat has been recalled due to the detection of high levels of fire retardant in padding used in the product.
The affected products were manufactured between March 2021 and October 2023 and have model numbers 100106-100108.
Seats manufactured on or after 1 November 2023 are not affected by this recall. Thule RideAlong 2 seats are not affected by the recall.
Product Safety Australia (PSA) advises the flame retardant Decabromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE) has been detected in the harness padding of the seat at levels that may pose a health risk during long-term exposure/ingestion.
PSA warns there may be a health risk, including thyroid, neurological or liver illnesses, in the event of long-term exposure to the skin and/or eyes or high level ingestion of the DecaBDE.
Consumers should stop using Thule RideAlong child bike seats immediately. Consumers should check the label on their seat to identify whether their seat is affected. See photo.
Consumers with affected products will need to register their product at: www.thule.com/recallthuleridealongerow
A free return box will be provided so consumers can send the affected harness padding to Thule Group for a free replacement.
