Bicycle Network is looking for expressions of interest from councils aiming to bolster their understanding of sustainable transport, by signing up for our annual Super Sunday active travel counts.
By taking part in Australia’s largest recreational riding and walking surveys, councils will be provided with valuable insights on bike riders, walkers, joggers, dog walkers and e-scooter riders on their trails, paths and roads.
Our network of counters will take up posts at sites nominated by the council to collect the data, which will then be packaged into a comprehensive report to help planners understand the make-up of different users, with insights and analysis.
In 2023, 37 councils participated in Super Sunday around Australia as counters took to 336 sites around the country. The results showed recreational bike riding is on the rise, with a 7% increase observed across the country.
The 2024 survey will take place on Sunday 10 November, from 9am until 12pm.
Interested councils are encouraged to sign up and nominate their sites by mid-September by contacting our team at bikefutures@bicyclenetwork.com.au.
