Final touches to the exterior of the new overpass on Whitehall Street will be applied this weekend, requiring a closure of the trail along Whitehall Street.
With the overpass structure recently installed, work crews need to affix the final sections of cladding.
These works will require an overnight closure of Whitehall Street, between Youell Street and Somerville Road from 7pm on Saturday 12 October to 7am Sunday 13 October.
Riders will be detoured along Parker and Hyde Streets.
Be aware that motor traffic will also be detoured along Hyde Street, but using Napier Street, not Parker. As some trucks will unknowingly turn into Moreland Street, provision has been made for them to turn back at Parker Street.
The overpass will form part of the re-routed Bay Trail West. This will soon connect directly from the Veloway, across Shepherd Bridge, along the Maribyrnong and then across the new wetlands at the West Gate Tunnel entrance/exit, across this new overpass and then along Harris Street to hook into Hyde Street.
