Intermittent closures of Main Yarra Trail

UPDATE: Further intermittent closures of the Main Yarra Trail at the Collins Bridge are scheduled for Friday 22 November.

Parks Victoria contractors on the Gipps Street elevated trail link project will be conducting crane lifts across the trail over two to three hours during the morning.

Access between each lift will be restored as quickly as possible but during lifts the approved detour route and traffic controllers will be in place to re-direct pedestrians and bike riders.

The foundation works for the main ramp are complete on the north side and close to completion on the south side. 

Work on fitting balustrades to the ramps is continuing.

Drainage works on the south side of Collins Bridge and in the Gipps Street area are required prior to foundation works being completed on the south side in early 2025.

Weeding has started on the northern embankment in preparation for planting native species to regenerate the area.
