Riders coming out of the CBD along St Kilda Road, and making a right turn into Albert Street, have a new, safe turning option following the completion of Anzac Station.
Take a look at this great bird’s-eye-view visual from above the station entrance.
The blue arrowed line is the path riders need to take to turn into Albert Road.
When riders reach Domain Road, they should perch in the hook turn box just near the Melbourne Grammar pointy hat corner.
Watch for the green signal and then ride across St Kilda Road, past Anzac Station and into the Albert Road bike lane.
It might seem a slightly disjointed journey at first, but once you are familiar with it, it works well.
Riders are advised not to attempt to turn right at Park Street using the pedestrian crossing and then ride along the footpath on the western side of St Kilda Road into Albert Road. We suspect some riders got into this habit during station construction when access through the areas was poor.
The footpaths here are already busy and will be far busier when the station opens.
It’s time to develop some new habits for 2025: make the hook turn.
