Trailblazer award for NZ bike path clean up 

Bike Auckland has recognised a community volunteer who encouraged others to clean up bike paths with its second annual Trailblazer Award. 

Roger Lacey, a member of Bike Eastern Suburbs, organised a series of Love Your Path events to restore and reinvigorate unloved bike paths in Tāmaki Makaurau’s eastern suburbs.  

Bike Auckland Chair Karen Hormann says Lacey’s efforts have been inspiring.  

“Roger has given a lot over many years through Bike Eastern Suburbs, helping to create a joyful, connected community on bikes. But in the past year, he has gone above and beyond. Bike Auckland initiated the first Love Your Path event, and Roger has taken it from there, organising a series of popular events."   

Bike Auckland is a not-for-profit organisation working to create a better region for people who ride bikes.
