99 Bikes challenge = more e-bike commutes

If you want to try an e-bike but are not quite ready to part with the cash to buy one, bicycle retailer 99 Bikes has a proposal for you.

99 Bikes is looking for nine people across the country who agree to ride to work for at least three days a week for 99 days and they'll give them an e-bike and accessories.

There is of course, a catch. You need to convince them to choose you for their Green Team via a one-minute video answering why you want to be part of the team, how you currently commute to work and how the prize will benefit you.

This is an important step because the winning nine riders will have to produce seven short clips during their challenge to share on social media. The only other requirement is that all rides are recorded on Strava.

99 Bikes says it is looking for a diverse range of people to make up the Green Team, from beginners to seasoned riders of all ages and physical fitness. The retailer want to see people apply who are “environmentally conscious, positive and focused on lifestyle and health”.

The lucky nine will get the choice of a Cube, Merida or Pedal e-bike, plus Shokz wireless headphones, Met Echo helmet, Raveman and TR20 lights, a Hiplok and cable lock, and Bone Tie phone holder.

The purpose of the challenge is to highlight the benefits of using an e-bike as the primary mode of transport for commuting to reduce traffic congestion, cut carbon emissions and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Providing the Green Team members meet all the conditions of the challenge they’ll keep the e-bike and accessories.

Apply before midnight on 2 February: https://www.99bikes.com.au/greenteam-2025
