Man charged over wire trap on SA bike path

An 18-year-old man has been charged with endangering life after allegedly stringing wire across an Adelaide bike path during the busy January holiday period.

Four bike riders were injured in two separate incidents after hitting the wire, which police say had been removed from a fence and tied across the path to a tree.

Three male riders were injured and suffered minor injuries. Their bikes were severely damaged.

In the second incident a woman rider struck the wire and the handlebars of her bike were damaged, but she was uninjured.

The man appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 16 January.
