Greenline works restart along the Yarra

The Greenline project along the north bank of the Yarra restarts construction in the middle of this month, but access along the bike route will not be impacted.

Greenline is a project to provide an upgraded and continuous, publicly accessible connection along the city’s interface with the river.

Works have been suspended since the beginning of the year to allow for activities associated with the Australian Open tennis and the Moomba festival.

Work began last year on site preparation for landscaping and boardwalk construction as well as upgrades to underground drainage and lighting.

In the coming weeks work will begin to transform 450 metres of the river’s edge in Birrarung Marr with new boardwalks, promenades, and diverse native habitats.

This phase will include earthworks, piling for the new boardwalks, construction, planting and finishing works.

Temporary fencing with corflute signage will be installed before hoardings go up.

Completion of major construction works is expected by the end of this year.

The Greenline Project Hub at Federation Square is now open to the public every Wednesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 3 pm for community drop-in information sessions.

Visitors can learn more about the project, ask questions, or book a walking tour with our team to explore the initiative firsthand.
