Riders through Epping and Wollert in Melbourne’s outer north will be dealing with major changes in traffic conditions in the coming months.
The detour in place for riders along Findon Creek will remain for the new work.
The Epping Road upgrade project, which has been building new southbound lanes for more than a year, will open those lanes in a week or so as it moves construction to the other side of the road to build new northbound lanes.
At the same time, work will start on intersection upgrades at Harvest Home Road and Taggerty Grove.
Harvest Home Road will be closed in both directions between Epping Road and Champions Parade from 7:30pm, Thursday 20 March to late August. During this time, Taggerty Grove will also be closed at Epping Road.
Sections of De Rossi Boulevard will be closed at times until late April while lane and intersection works are completed.
Following the Easter break, traffic will be moved onto the final new section of southbound Epping Road lanes on High Street from O’Herns Road to Memorial Avenue.
During the April school holidays High Street will be closed between Memorial Avenue and O’Herns Road to complete drainage crossings.
Craigieburn Road East and Lehmanns Road at Epping Road will also be closed over a weekend to enable the upgrade to the intersection, move traffic to the new eastbound lanes, and build the westbound lanes. Epping Road will remain open with one lane in each direction.
As part of the intersection upgrades, new lanes, paths, medians, and safety barriers are being constructed, requiring side roads to be closed at Epping Road for several months.
