An extension to Ison Road in Werribee will deliver a vital new bike link to a rapidly growing area.
A 1.3km shared path will be built as part of the new four-lane road project between the rail overpass currently under construction and an upgraded intersection of Geelong and Wests roads, with a connection to the Princes Freeway interchange.
The overpass project will also deliver a bike link along the rail corridor.
The extension, a Wyndham City project supported by $60 million from the state government, will provide a bike link between existing paths on Ferntree Drive in King’s Leigh Estate and Geelong Road to boost local active transport opportunities.
Two bus bays will also be built near the upgraded intersection to cater for future public transport routes in Wyndham’s west.
Early works began in January 2025 and road users should be able to use the new link by the end of 2026.
