Murraduc Road upgrade completed

Riders on the Bellarine Peninsula should have a better experience along Murraduc Road following widening and other improvements to the key east–west route.

The works included road widening, new pavement, line-marking, and new safety barriers, guideposts, and signs on a 1.5km section of the road between Becks and Portarlington–Queenscliff roads near Drysdale, and a 3km section between Bluff Road and McLeod Street in St Leonards.

Murraduc Road is an arterial link between Drysdale and coastal towns on the Bellarine Peninsula including Portarlington, Queenscliff, Indented Head, and St Leonards.

Like many rural roads, it was an important bike connection, but in recent years, with more drivers distracted by phones and peak holiday season traffic, risk exposure was on the rise.

Now, with a shoulder on the road, riders can be further away from traffic, and with the black vibra-line, drivers will be much less inclined to drift over to the shoulder when distracted.
