North Sydney Bike Action Plan open for feedback

North Sydney Council is seeking community feedback on the draft North Sydney Bike Action Plan 2025–2045.

The plan includes a new bike network, bike riding targets, policy changes, behaviour change activities and a cost-benefit analysis.

Specifically, the plan proposes a separated cycleway along the eastern edge of St Leonards Park, adjacent to the Warringah Freeway, to give both riders and pedestrians more room.

Miller Place would be transformed into a vibrant public plaza, with Miller Street closed between Berry Street and the Pacific Highway.

Two Cycling Super Highways are proposed from the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Crows Nest along the Pacific Highway, and to Mosman and Northern Beaches along Falcon Street and Military Road. The plan involves protected cycle lanes on each side of the road along with dedicated bus lanes.

In the long term, the proposed bike network would mean all residential streets are safe for riders, and people could ride between suburbs and regions on protected routes.

Overall, the plan aims to increase bike riding in North Sydney four-fold to 6% by 2045.

Riders can view the plan and offer feedback on the council website.

Consultation closes on Monday 26 May 2025.
