Use your bottles & cans to help people ride

Bicycle Network’s Back on your Bike program is asking for your unwanted cans and bottles.

Bicycle Network has been listed as a charity partner on Tasmania’s new Recycle Rewards program, which pays out 10c for every eligible can and bottle returned.

Bicycle Network needs more funding if we are going to keep our adult rider education program Back on your Bike on the road. The program has been running for more than three years thanks to a state government Healthy Tasmania grant but that funding stops at the end of June.

Back on your Bike works with adults who may not have ridden for a long time and need a few riding skills refresher sessions. We also work with new migrants, people with disabilities, councils and community groups to get more people riding for fitness and transport. With more than 80% of Tasmanians not meeting physical activity guidelines, we desperately need to get more people moving more often!

How to donate

Donating is easy. Just download the Recycle Rewards app to your smart phone.

Then search for Back on your Bike in the charities section and choose as the payout option.

If you don’t want the app on your phone you can scan our charity barcode instead (pictured below).

When you return your cans and bottles at one of the state’s 49 drop-off sites (find your nearest site), scan the barcode in your app or the charity barcode and the payment will go to Bicycle Network.

Remember not to crush the bottles and cans or the machine may not be able to read the barcode.

Once you’ve fed all your bottles and cans through, press TRANSFER on the machine screen and your donation will be sent to Bicycle Network.
