Bike paths for Melton Highway

A major roads project along the Melton Highway in Melbourne’s outer west will fill in a missing link in the bike route alongside the highway.

The Melton Highway infill duplication project will add an extra lane in each direction between Crown Drive in Fraser Rise and The Regency in Hillside, and extend and connect the existing shared walking and cycling path on the south side of Melton Highway.

The project will also install safety barriers and new street lighting, relocate and protect utility services including telecommunications and NBN, build new kerbs and drainage and lay new asphalt and apply new road markings.

Work will begin in the coming weeks and is expected to be complete by mid-2026.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said: “We know that Melton’s population is projected to increase to more than 400,000 residents by 2050 – which is why we’re delivering projects like these that will provide safer and more efficient journeys for years to come.”
