Western Australian riders will welcome the news of two new bike facilities planned in Karratha and Wickham.
The City of Karratha council hopes the two projects will provide inclusive, multi-use spaces catering to a range of ages, skill levels and riding styles and enhance the region's recreational opportunities.
The first of the projects is a bike park in Karratha. Three different sites are proposed with different facility designs, but all the proposals include multiple tracks at various levels of difficulty and shade and seating areas.
The second project is a medium-sized asphalt-surfaced pump and jump track in Wickham, including standard pump track elements and a progressive jump line. The project will also involve two separate hang-out areas with seating, water fountains and shade.
The council has developed early concept options for each project and is seeking public feedback on potential sites for both facilities. More information about both can be found on the council website.
Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts by emailing feedback to community.planning@karratha.wa.gov.au.
The initial feedback period closes at 5pm, 18 June 2025, but a further concept review and voting opportunity will be available in mid-July.
