The City of Adelaide will make several further upgrades to the new North-South Bikeway extension along Frome Street and Frome Road, following community feedback.
The final 1km of the North–South Bikeway was recently finished, completing a strategic cycling corridor across the city after many years of delay.
It has been welcomed by riders, but some concerns have also been raised, including traffic waiting times, drivers blocking the bike lane, the look of the flexible bollard separators, delays in access to the Lot Fourteen site, interactions between drivers and riders near driveways, and rider speeds near Crowne Plaza Adelaide.
To address these concerns, the City of Adelaide will introduce the following infrastructure improvements:
- traffic signal phasing improvements at key intersections
- replacement of flexible bollards with a concrete median island and clear signage identifying the bike lane
- enhanced line marking, including new markings and refreshing green conflict zone markings
- additional minor upgrades to improve safety and functionality.
Work on the upgrades began in June 2025 and is expected to take 3–4 weeks to complete.
