Run Melbourne disrupts city bike routes

Mass running event Run Melbourne will affect inner several inner-city bike routes on the morning of Sunday 13 July.

There are road closures and access restrictions around the city centre, Docklands, Southbank and South Yarra across the morning.

Run Melbourne is facilitating multiple events across various routes and expects 25,000 runners.

The finish line and event centre will be at the Grand Slam Oval at Melbourne Park.

Noteworthy disruptions include:

From the east (6.30am–12pm)
  • Main Yarra Trail north of the river (at Morell Bridge). Detour either right to Gosch Paddock/Olympic Boulevard or left over Morell Bridge via pathway.

  • Main Yarra Trail south of the river (at Morell Bridge). Riders can loop up and head up Anderson Street, take a right onto Domain Road and follow down to St Kilda Road. Alternatively, continue along the trail to the Boathouse Drive boatsheds, head up the ramp and cross with traffic control at the pedestrian lights, or loop up and round over Morell Bridge.

From the south (3.45am–8.15am)
  • Via St Kilda road up towards Southbank Boulevard, follow Southbank Boulevard to the river, then get off and cross the runners' route in the gap at the pedestrian crossing to continue on Queens Bridge Street heading north.
From the north (6.30am–8.30am)
  • Capital City Trail (at Docklands Drive). Continue south by crossing at the Dudley Street intersection to head south down Harbour Esplanade.
